Toshihiro Nishikado

Toshihiro Nishikado designed and programmed the computer game Space Invaders for Japanese company Taito in 1978.

Originally, Nishikado had planned to use tanks (or airplanes, see below) as the attacking force, but the computers of the time were too slow to let the tanks turn and move smoothly. The familiar aliens were used to avoid the problem.

In October 2005, Nishikado commented in an interview that his original intention had been to make the enemies airplanes, but that this had been too technically difficult to render. He was opposed to depicting the enemies as human beings (which would have been technically easier) as he believed the idea of depicting the shooting of humans to be "morally wrong".

Unfortunately, Space Invaders was the only computer game Nishikado created.

Earnings Tracker is John Dixon Technology's FREE open source accounting / bookkeeping software tool. The software is written in PHP and MySQL and is available to use for FREE online, or as a FREE download. Earnings Tracker is aimed at UK contractors and freelancers, and lets invoice amounts, salaries, income tax, pension contributions, employers and employees national insurance contributions be recorded, and calculates the amount of VAT and corporation (business) tax due, and the size of dividends that can be taken by shareholders.
